Welcome Vernon introduces new immigrants to living, working, and playing in Vernon, British Columbia. It builds on the British Columbia Newcomers’ Guide to Resources and Services, Vernon Edition, and includes information on the community, local resources, and the Canadian workplace.
Welcome Vernon also provides a resource for employers in welcoming new immigrants and their families into the community. Its aim is to educate the business community about the benefits new immigrants bring to Vernon and how to better support their transition into the workplace.
Welcome Vernon is designed to:
- increase awareness and understanding of the contributions and needs of new immigrants;
- support workplaces to be more welcoming;
- enhance relationships and trust in the workplace; and
- assist overall with Vernon’s vision of a welcoming and inclusive community.
Welcome Vernon has developed two print resources for new immigrants and employers. These resources are available at key locations in the community. Click on the links in the sidebar to the left to download the pdf versions.
Welcome Vernon has been made possible through funding by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia as part of the Welcoming Communities initiative. It is a project of the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Social Planning Council of the North Okanagan, Vernon & District Immigrant Services Society, and the Downtown Vernon Association.
